Biography

    Dr. Wei Shan is an Associate Professor specializing in neurology and autoimmune encephalitis research at Capital Medical University. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. from Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine and currently serves as a neurologist at the Neurology Center of Beijing Tiantan Hospital. Dr. Shan has extensive clinical and research experience, with a focus on characterizing autoimmune encephalitis across multiple centers and applying single-cell sequencing technology to advance the understanding and classification of this condition.

    His research excellence has been recognized through multiple Travel Awards and Best Poster Awards at international conferences, including the 2021 Japan Neuroscience Society Annual Meeting and the 2021 International League Against Epilepsy. In 2021, he was honored as a Beijing Science and Technology Rising Star. Dr. Shan has secured several research grants, including those from the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Project and the Beijing Science and Technology Rising Star Project.

    Dr. Shan has published over 60 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals, with his work being cited nearly 1,500 times and boasting an H-index of 22 (Google Scholar). His contributions include leading a landmark study that analyzed the characteristics of autoimmune encephalitis across 22 clinical centers in China and pioneering work in using single-cell sequencing technology for precise classification of autoimmune encephalitis.
